Recognition of refugee status

Decision by the CGRS or the CALL that the applicant or international protection is granted refugee status.

Resettlement

Selection and transfer of refugees to a third country that has agreed in advance to provide them with durable residence. The measure should offer a solution for refugees who cannot return to their country of origin and cannot obtain sufficient protection or when there are no local integration prospects in the first country of reception.

Revocation of the protection status

The Commissioner General takes a decision to revoke the protection status when the status should never have been granted. This could be the case if the person concerned should have been excluded from protection or because he obtained protection by means of fraud.

Refoulement

the return by a State, in any manner whatsoever, of an individual to the territory of another state in  which they may be persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion or would run the risk of torture.
