Processing cases of applicants from Libanon.

In the context of recent events and the unstable situation in Lebanon, the CGRS will continue to process cases of applicants coming from Lebanon. Planned personal interviews and assessments will continue. The CGRS will continue to notify the following decisions:

  • decisions granting refugee status, in which an individual well-founded fear of persecution is clearly established;
  • decisions of inadmissibility for persons enjoying a protection status in another EU member state.

However, the notification of the following decisions is suspended:

Decisions granting or refusing subsidiary protection status.

This suspension is only temporary, and applies until the CGRS has sufficient objective information to accurately assess the security situation in Lebanon.

02 October 2024

From 12 June 2026, the CGRS will apply new EU rules for the asylum procedure, including mandatory recording of the personal interview, wider use of the accelerated procedure and revised rules on safe countries.
