As of today, the European Pact on Asylum and Migration (the Pact) has entered into force. This has an impact on the conduct of the asylum procedure and therefore also entails a number of operational and procedural changes for the CGRS. At the beginning of May, an overview was shared setting out the main changes resulting from the Pact at the level of the CGRS. On 1 June, further clarification was provided regarding the audio recording of the personal interview and the new powers relating to age assessment.
The information on our website has been updated to reflect the situation as it stands from 12 June 2026 following the implementation of the Pact. Due to delays in the legislative process, the national legislative instruments will not enter into force until after 12 June, meaning that in practice, the old deadlines or arrangements will continue to apply temporarily in certain cases. This will apply for a period of a few days or weeks, until the entry into force of the CALL Act, the Act amending the Aliens Act and the Royal Decree concerning the regulation of the functioning and administration of justice by the CGRS.

The brochures relating to the asylum procedure have also been brought into line with the Pact. These can be found under the ‘brochures’ tab. Unlike in the past, brochures from the EUAA (European Asylum Support Office) are now also available. These have been developed by the EUAA for all EU Member States but adapted to the national context. CGRS brochures remain available, but only for topics for which no brochures have been developed by the EUAA, specifically for beneficiaries of international protection.
The range of languages in which the brochures are available has been expanded compared to the past. Not all languages are currently available, but they are under active development. These will be made available gradually over the coming period. The brochure ‘Information for unaccompanied minors’ is the only one on our website that will also be handed out in paper form when the application is submitted.
