CGRS set to resume processing of Syrian dossiers

The CGRS suspended the processing of Syrian applications on 9 December 2024, after the fall of the Assad regime. This suspension was necessary to collect sufficient objective and up-to-date information so as to be able to assess correctly the need for international protection.

The CGRS now possesses enough objective information for an accurate assessment of Syrian asylum applications and will process these again as from 1 November 2025.

If you have applied for international protection but have not yet received a decision from the CGRS, please do not contact us. The CGRS assesses each application on an individual basis and you will receive an invitation for a personal interview. If you have already been interviewed at the CGRS, you will receive in principle an invitation for a new interview (unless you have been interviewed because you have already been granted protection in another EU member state). The CGRS will contact you and you don’t need to do anything on your side.

If you have any documents that are relevant for your application and that you have not yet presented to the CGRS, please send them as soon as possible.
