Het onderzoek richt zich hierbij op de politieke situatie, de veiligheidssituatie en de socio-economische situatie van het land om een zo breed mogelijke analyse te maken van de huidige stand van zaken. De situatie van specifieke profielen, zoals bijvoorbeeld journalisten of politieke activisten, vormen geen voorwerp van deze analyse. Deze COI Focus richt zich in het bijzonder op de periode van augustus 2023 tot augustus 2024 en is een update van het gelijknamige rapport van 8 augustus 2023. Het onderzoek werd afgesloten op 9 september 2024.

In deze COI Focus bestudeert Cedoca de prevalentie van corruptie en documentenfraude in Afghanistan. Dit rapport is een actualisering van de COI Focus Afghanistan Corruptie en documentenfraude van 14 januari 2021 (update). Dit document bevat de nieuwe ontwikkelingen sinds januari 2021 en spitst zich toe op de huidige situatie. Op die manier bespreekt dit rapport de overgang van de Republiek Afghanistan naar het door de Taliban uitgeroepen Islamitisch Emiraat Afghanistan na hun machtsovername in augustus 2021. Cedoca sloot het onderzoek af op 23 augustus 2024.

In this COI Focus, Cedoca describes the security situation in the city of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province in Eastern Afghanistan. This report covers the period between 1 February 2018 and 31 January 2019. The research was completed on 25 February 2019. This COI Focus is an update of the COI Focus Veiligheidssituatie in Jalalabad of 20 February 2018.
This COI Focus does not describe the present situation of the conflict in the whole of Afghanistan, nor the situation in Nangarhar province. Its central emphasis is on the analysis of the security situation in the city of Jalalabad. However, in some sections (for example regarding the typology of the violence), the situation in the district of Jalalabad and the surrounding districts of Behsud and Surkh-Rōd - north and west of the city of Jalalabad respectively – is also examined.
