This report analyses the security situation in Syria, focusing in particular on the situation of the civilian population. The reference period is 2019 and the first two months of 2020. The drafting of this report was finalised on 6 March 2020. Some additional information was added during the finalisation of this report in response to feedback received during the quality control process until 8 April 2020.

Deze COI Focus is een update van de COI Focus Pakistan. Homoseksualiteit en andere seksuele minderheden van 16 augustus 2016. De huidige COI Focus behandelt de periode augustus 2016 tot en met 10 april 2020.

In het internationale discours over mensenrechten gebruikt men tegenwoordig de afkorting LGBT (lesbiennes, homoseksuelen, biseksuelen, transgenders) om te verwijzen naar seksuele minderheden. De afkorting kan ook slaan op instellingen, organisaties en individuen die de rechten van deze personen verdedigen. Hoewel de leden van verschillende seksuele minderheden in een bepaalde context een gelijkaardige druk kunnen ondervinden, bevinden ze zich niet noodzakelijk in dezelfde situatie. Seksuele geaardheid en genderidentiteit (mannelijk of vrouwelijk) zijn twee verschillende problematieken.

De term homoseksueel slaat zowel op mannen als op vrouwen. Naast homoseksuelen, kent Pakistan een uitgebreide gemeenschap van transgenders (hijra’s of khawaj seras).

Dit onderzoek maakt een stand van zaken op over de veiligheidssituatie in de Somalische hoofdstad Mogadishu. Het richt zich in het bijzonder op de periode van 1 september 2019 tot en met 29 februari 2020. Dit document is een update van de COI Focus van 22 oktober 2019. Cedoca heeft het onderzoek afgesloten op 29 februari 2020.

This COI Focus discusses the security situation in Surobi District in Kabul province between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019. More particularly, Cedoca looks at the security incidents registered in Surobi District and the displacement related to the conflict in that period.

In this COI Focus, Cedoca describes the security situation in the city of Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province in Eastern Afghanistan. This report covers the period between 1 February 2018 and 31 January 2019. The research was completed on 25 February 2019. This COI Focus is an update of the COI Focus Veiligheidssituatie in Jalalabad of 20 February 2018.

This COI Focus does not describe the present situation of the conflict in the whole of Afghanistan, nor the situation in Nangarhar province. Its central emphasis is on the analysis of the security situation in the city of Jalalabad. However, in some sections (for example regarding the typology of the violence), the situation in the district of Jalalabad and the surrounding districts of Behsud and Surkh-Rōd - north and west of the city of Jalalabad respectively – is also examined.

This report is an update of the EASO COI report Afghanistan Security Situation first published in January 2015, and updated in January 2016, November 2016 and in December 2017.

This COI Focus describes the security situation in the city of Jalalabad, capital of the province of Nangarhar in eastern Afghanistan. The city of Jalalabad is the fourth largest city in Afghanistan. The city is an important commercial centre in eastern Afghanistan, situated at a strategic position on different trade routes.
